Documents
What to bring to the appointment
Most common original documents
- Official photo ID
- CPF
- Voter registration card and proof of electoral compliance
- Military service certificate, for men aged 19 to 45
- Previous passport, if any
- For minors: presence and authorization of parents or guardians, according to Federal Police rules
Changed your name, lost your previous passport or need it urgently? These cases have their own rules and fees. We guide each situation before the appointment.
Timelines and validity
How long it takes and how long it's valid
After the appointment, issuing usually takes up to 6 business days, but appointment availability varies a lot between cities. In proven urgent situations, there is an emergency passport, with specific rules and fees.
For people over 18, a regular passport is valid for 10 years. For minors, validity is shorter, depending on age.
Watch the minimum validity required by the destination
Many countries require the passport to have at least 6 months of validity on the date of entry. A passport that expires in a few months can prevent boarding, even though it's still valid.
